Day 11 - May 30, 2008 - Denali National Park to Fairbanks.

This was a very cold night, Freezing outside (and inside our RV as well !). After we woke up, it turned out to be a clear blue sky. Too bad we had to leave, but on the other hand, we have noticed that the weather can change rapidly here and in the Park.
Half way between Denali National Park and Fairbanks, we made a quick stop in Nenana to visit the Alaska Railroad Museum.
This turned out to be a big gift shop in the old railway station, decorated with some old railway memorabilia and local artifacts.
The highlight of the year is the prediction of when the ice in the Tanana River will break in spring (Nenana Ice Classic).
For 2 dollar, you can place your bet, stating day and time of when the ice will break.

In Fairbanks, it was time to fuel up again. 47 gallons for 185 dollar this time. Fairbanks offers fuel at a reasonable price, the best at least until we get back to Anchorage.

We checked in at the River's Edge RV park, which is really nice located at the Chena River, close to the Fred Meyer supermarket.
The weather had improved a lot (temperature was 71 F here) so when we had checked in, we decided to stay here for 3 nights in stead of the planned 2 nights.
Also, we have evaluated our planning for the remainder of this trip and made up our mind to skip the section from Delta Junction to Haines Junction (Yukon, Canada)
