| Day 15 - June 3, 2008 - Fairbanks to Delta Junction After 3 days of not much action, now it was time to get some shopping done first. Our friend Fred Meyer provided us with all that we needed, so on our way we were for a short trip, only to Delta Junction. The first stop of the day was in North Pole, with the "world famous" attraction Santa Claus house. This is the location were you can buy every day of the year your Christmas decorations. Also, all the letters sent to "Santa with address North Pole" are delivered her by the US Mail service. There is a big display of all kind of letters and wish lists. It must be a boring to work here, every day those Christmas songs that are played....... The next stop was close to Delta Junction. Here we had our first change to see the Trans Alaska Pipeline, an oil pipeline from north Alaska to Valdez, over 800 miles in length. Our campsite for the night was the Good Sam club Green Acres RV Park and Campground The manager of the day (and owner ?) was very helpful and gave us many good tips. So if you are looking for a nice place, remember to check this out. The bad news of the day was an email from the Alaska Marine Highway System. They just changed our ferry reservation from Valdez to Whittier (booked already many weeks ago) from June 7 to June 13 ! There were some mechanical problems, so they had to re-book everybody on 1 boat now. How stupid can you be to believe that people will wait for almost 1 week to be transported and still claim “We are now shifting all traffic from the Aurora to the Chenega, and to this point, have been able to handle those reservations”. Not a single way of compensation for this "general terms and conditions". So, I will strongly advise everybody NOT to make any reservations with this very unreliable company. They just do what they want and do not care at all about how this ruins your holiday plans.
