Day 23 - June 11, 2008 - Amsterdam

Nice on time, we arrived in Amsterdam at 7 am at Schiphol, Amsterdam International Airport.

To summarize this vacation, it was great most of the time. We have seen spectacular scenery, wildlife and we have met nice people.
What did we learn:

1- Satnav (TomTom) is something you only can use in cities. During the long road trips, TomTom could not position us on the road, but according to this device, we were about 30 yards off the road all the time.
2- May / June can be still wet and cold in the coastal areas. Bring warm clothes and rain gear.
3- Fuels is expensive here, check the websites like Alaska gas prices to find the best locations where to get it
4- In May / June, not much insects did wake up, that is good !
5- In May / June, not so many tourists, so camping is quiet and easy to get good spots
6- Try to avoid the Alaska Marine Highway system if you can. They are an unreliable company and cancel reservations without any compensation.
7- A big RV is great. We had 25' with a fixed bed. Do not use this with 5 persons, this will make it very crowded.
8- Never wash your vehicle at a fuel station, even when you just have loaded fuel for 185 $.
9- Bring food and drinks when you fly from Anchorage airport.
10- Good Sam Club operate good campsites / RV parks.
11- It's always good, to be back home (Golden Earring)
